The news is out that Nvidia would roll out two graphic cards SKUs the near future. While this news is not official, the information leaks about the upcoming cards are practically standing with a ‘coming soon’ banner. According to a source, Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti’s 3DMark 11 test run leaked, along with a GPU-Z screenshot at its side. According to the GPU-Z screenshot, the production sample made by Colorful.
Brief Description
According to the screenshot, the GTX 1050 Ti has a base/boost clock of 1291 MHz/ 1392 MHz. It has a 4GB GDDR5 VRAM with a 128bit bus width. It has 32 ROPs, 64 TMUs, 768 unified shaders and running at 82.6 G Texel/s. Seeing how the situation is this would the long-running GTX 750 Ti while providing performance possibly better than the GTX 950 (maybe a GTX 960?). It is assumed that the GTX 1050 and GTX 1050 Ti will release in this month. Surprisingly according to the leaks, there won’t be a DVI port on the GTX 1050. Both cards are said to have the TDP of 75 watts with the GP107 core. The non-Ti version will have a lower clock and 2GB GDDR5 VRAM. GTX 1050’s MSRP is expected to be US$ 119 and US$ 149.
The benchmark leaks contain two tests from 3DMark 11- Performance and the Xtreme preset optimised viz. 1080p gaming. If we look at Xtreme gaming, the GTX 1050 Ti produces 3867 overall benchmark. The GPU is tested on the system with the Intel i7 6700K.
Potential markets for the GTX 1050 Ti
While the GeForce GTX 1080, GeForce GTX 1070 and GeForce GTX 1060 variants are good for 1440p, ultra wide and 4K gaming, GTX 1050 Ti may look very promising for those with standard 400w power supply units and wouldn’t be looking at anything more than 1080p gaming. This would cater to a lot of smaller-sized gaming cafes that are still running on GTX 750 Ti. If it can provide a GTX 960 for that price, it could a decent deal. This would also include those who wouldn’t be able to spend a lot of money on a GTX 1060 as they would indulge in light to medium 1080p gaming. The lack of PCIe connectors on the GTX 1050 for extra power makes it attractive.
Its safe to say that Nvidia is rolling out the low-end gaming-grade graphic card to provide an alternate to an RX 460. I have not yet reviewed that model yet but it will be interesting to do a side-by-side comparison.
